Game Overview

Philosophy

Our primary goal is to provide a unique combination of advanced technologies that will bring to life the actual game world for the player, in real time. In other words, we are going to give the player the opportunity to do whatever they wish to the game world itself. It's like putting game play into a terrain and particle system editor, without any technological knowledge required.

Our game is designed using XNA Game Studio Express so it only runs on the Xbox 360 or a PC.

F.A.Q.

What is the game?

Four players with the ability to control the elements. EleMental is a brutal death match, pitting players against one another in a winner-takes-all fight to the death. With the ability to manipulate terrain, wind, water, and fire, players battle for supremacy using whatever elements or combinations of elements they can come up with against the other players. Since the game provides for unlimited potential, the players can literally use, or abuse anything on the board. Like playing paint-ball with a backhoe, a flamethrower, a fire hydrant, and a jet pack...

Why create this game?

Modern game makers tend to use a lot of programming shortcuts, what the industry refers to as smoke and mirrors, to simulate higher levels of technology. With a new computing horizon in view that removes the barriers to processing limitations, we want to move in a direction that uses more realistic physics and interactions. We want to make significant use of 'bleeding edge' technologies and explore new avenues in our pursuit of a better gaming world.

Several particular reasons stand out from playing the prototype game:

Who is this game for?

Our target rating for the game is T for Teen (under the ESRB) and our target audience is the RPG, Adventure and FPS players in the age group 14-30.

What is the gameplay like?

Lumea is a fantasy world. Lushly designed in color and scope, it is more like a sandbox or a clay world where the players can change the actual terrain around as they see fit to do so. Towering mountains, flowing rivers, and smoking volcanoes are possible for the players to create or destroy.  The main game characters are called EleMentals and, with their powers, you can control the elements. Since the game is a death-match, the object of the game is to be the last EleMental left standing.
